Products Description of Tetramethylammonium Hydroxide CAS#75-59-2
Tetramethylammonium hydroxide liquid state: Commonly, it is a colorless and transparent aqueous solution (concentration 25% - 50%). High-purity products have no impurity color, while industrial grades may be slightly light yellow. It has strong alkalinity (pH≈14) and an ammonia smell, and its viscosity increases with the increase of concentration. Solid state: White crystalline powder, with extremely strong hygroscopicity. At room temperature, it rapidly deliquesces into a viscous liquid. Therefore, it rarely exists in pure solid form and mostly in the form of hydrates (such as pentahydrate).

Product Application of Tetramethylammonium Hydroxide CAS#75-59-2
Tetramethylammonium hydroxide is used to produce tetramethyl-ammonium azide. It is used as an anisotropic etchant of silicon, basic solvent in the development of acidic photoresist in photolithography process, as surfactant in the synthesis of ferrofluid and as a polarographic reagent. It finds application in the production of organic silicon, where it is used for computer silicon wafer surface brightener and cleaning agent. It is also involved in the purification of some metallic elements.
