Products Description of PET Resin (Polyethylene Terephthalate) CAS#25038-59-9:
PET resin is in the form of colorless transparent or milky white translucent oval-shaped pellets, with a smooth and glossy surface and hard texture. It is odorless and melts into a transparent viscous liquid when heated to approximately 250°C. It is insoluble in water but soluble in specific organic solvents such as phenol and tetrachloroethane, exhibiting excellent electrical insulation and mechanical properties.

Product Application of PET Resin (Polyethylene Terephthalate) CAS#25038-59-9
Preparation Method: Using Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Ethylene Glycol (EG) as main raw materials, the PET resin is produced via direct esterification (PTA method) or transesterification (DMT method) followed by polycondensation reaction. Under the action of catalysts (such as antimony trioxide), the melt polycondensation is carried out at high temperature (approx. 250-280°C) under high vacuum conditions. After completion of polymerization, the melt is extruded, cooled, and pelletized to obtain PET chips.
Main Application Areas:
Fiber Grade (Polyester):used for textile fabrics, home textiles, industrial yarns, etc.;
Bottle Grade:used for mineral water bottles, beverage bottles, cooking oil bottles and other food packaging containers;
Film Grade:used for electrical insulation films, photographic film substrates, composite food packaging films, etc.;
Engineering Plastic Grade:used for injection-molded products such as electronic and electrical components, automotive parts, etc.
Safety Information: This product is not classified as a dangerous chemical; it is an inert polymer material. During processing, care should be taken as high-temperature melt may cause thermal decomposition, generating small amounts of aldehyde gases; good ventilation should be maintained. Store in a dry, cool environment, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
Upstream and Downstream Product Information: Upstream raw materials include Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA, CAS#100-21-0) and Ethylene Glycol (EG, CAS#107-21-1); downstream products include polyester staple fiber, polyester filament, PET preforms, PET films, injection-molded products, etc.
